Two Worlds
“Two Worlds” Feather Design
A Story of Identity. A Message of Unity. Every Child Matters.
The Story Behind Two Worlds
The two feathers are more than a design — it is a personal story shared by Phyllis
Webstad, founding member of Orange Shirt Day – Every Child Matters and Orange
Shirt Society. Phyllis is the owner of her own shirt story.
Phyllis is both First Nation and European. Phyllis, on her mother’s side is Secwepemc
(Shuswap) from Stswecem’c Xget’tem First Nation outside of Williams Lake, BC. Her
biological father is Scottish and Irish. For Phyllis, the two feathers represents living,
learning, and belonging in Two Worlds. The design reflects the truth that identity can be
layered, complex, and deeply human — and that every child matters.
Two Worlds is a symbol of unity. It reminds us that Truth and Reconciliation is not about
division, but about understanding, respect, and shared responsibility.
What Two Worlds Represents
Identity: Honouring all parts of who we are
Unity: Walking together in two worlds
Truth and Reconciliation: Learning from the past while building a better future

This design invites conversation, reflection, and learning in classrooms, workplaces,
and communities across Canada.
